Furious!
Tonight was AWANA night. When we walked in to the sanctuary to pick up our children, we were shocked and disturbed, to find a man dressed as Santa Claus, teaching the children about himself. Children were raising their hands asking this guy all about his magic, his reindeer, the elves, etc. My husband and I immediatly grabbed our children, and left. The whole reason that we let our kids join AWANAS, is so they can meet other christian children, and learn more about God. I went into this whole AWANA thing with the idea that my children would be learning about the truth, and true things. I am totally appalled that this church would devote an evening to a worldly idea, and to something that is far from truth. It's a church! They should be teaching the children about Christ!! And the true meaning behind why Christians celebrate Christmas. Obviously after tonight, I know that I cannot trust this church with my children. It took all that was in me not to march over and demand my money back. I paid quite a bit of money for a year of AWANAs, in the hopes that my children would learn good and true things. I do not want my money to be used to teach children lies, and worldy ideas. It was soo disturbing seeing a Santa claus, and the unreal story about him being taught, inside the sanctuary, at the front of a church. Telling the story of St. Nicholas wouldn't be so bad, but they were teaching everything that had to do with how the world looks at this Santa Claus. It is just not right.
