New Things
It seems like so much has happened homeschooling wise around our house lately. I have really enjoyed all of the input I recieved in my previous posts about curriculums. The one that has stood out the most to me so far, is Ambleside online, and the Charlotte Mason stuff. I am in day 2 of trying out the Amblesid online curriculum, and so far I am loving it. Not only am I given examples of some really good living books to read to and be read by my children, but this narration stuff has really brought my childrens learning styles to the surface. I am seeing more and more just how my children learn, and the best ways to teach them. Ethan is such a good reader, that I decided to let him read a chapter out of the Bible everyday to us, and then pick a word out of the passage that he didn't know what it meant, taught him how to look up the word in the dictionary, and write the definition down in a hand made notebook. Madeline isn't quite at the same reading level as her older brother, but she has very good handwriting, so she copies everything down in her own notebook. I am still up in the air in regards to a math program for the kids, but I am confident that God will make it clear to us at the right time the perfect math curriculum for my kids. I am just sooooo proud of my kids. Hearing Ethan read the Bible all by himself melts my heart. I am thinking that I need to give him his very own special Bible now. Well, the kids have just come in from their outside playtime, and they are cold, and arguing, so it's time to end my blog for today!!
