Not-Back-To-School Hop 2010: Curriculum Week

Our curriculum changes EVERY year. Sometimes it even changes mid-year.  This year, I am feeling pretty good about our curriculum choice. Especially when it comes to our math curriculum! I can't express how much we LOVE Teaching Textbooks.

SO...here it goes!!

Ethan age 11:  6/7th grade

Math: Teaching Textbooks.  I have REALLY grown to love this curriculum! It's a homeschool mom's dream math program.  I highly recommend it.  Ethan is finishing up the 6th grade discs, and then we will be moving on to the 7th.

Reading: Sonlight core 3 or 4 (haven't gotten the core 4 IG yet, so in the meantime we are sticking with 3) We loosely follow the IG reading schedules, and notebook history items as they pop up.

Spelling: Spellwell D

Grammar: Daily grams grade 6

History: We continue to do history on the fly.  If we run into a history fact, a historical person, or other subject that has to do with history, we  google it and find books on it from the library. Then we notebook the pages together and put them into our Book of Centuries.  We do this as a family so there isn't a grade break.

Science: Science is another one that we do together. We are continuing to make our way through God's Design for Life series by Answers in Genesis.

Madeline age 10:  4/5th grade

Math: Teaching Textbooks grade 4 and 5.  She is halfway through the 4th grade, so we will continue to plug away at that, and then move on to the 5th.

Reading: The same as Ethan.  Sonlight IG 3

Spelling: Spellwell B

Grammar: Daily Grams grade 4

History & Science: The same as above.

Gable age 9:  3/4th grade

Math: Teaching Textbooks 4/5th.  He is at the same spot as Madeline.

Reading: Sonlight 2

Spelling: spellwell B

Grammar: Daily grams 3rd grade

History & Science: The same as above.

Anna-Mae age 7: 2nd grade

Math: Teaching Textbooks grade 3

Reading: Sonlight 2

spelling: Spellwell A

Grammar/phonics: Explode the code 3 & 3 1/2 plus reading grammar literature (Play Grammar & Grammar Land)

History & Science: The same as above

And of course there is our little Samuel, so sweet and perfect in every way.  He will be learning how to cuddle, coo, giggle, and all of the other fun things that babies learn how to do in their first year!

  2. I do love me some Sonlight and Daily Grams! Hey, we are doing Core 5 this year. If you are interested, I can send you the goods for free when we're done... but you'll have to email me later in the year and remind me. :) I have a horrid memory and will not be offended if you just say "hey marsha, don't forget that i want that SL5 when you're done."

Those teeth crack me up! I hate how they make you slobber a bunch if you keep them in too long.
