Oregon HB 2797

Keep the Oregon homeschoolers in your prayers!  It would be a huge blessing for HB 2797 to pass. There are many states like Idaho and Texas that don't require homeschoolers to take standardized tests, or even register with their local ESDs.  I pray that Oregon will  one day be listed among the homeschool friendly states.  This House Bill would be one more step in that direction.

OHEN encourages all homeschooling families to meet with their legislators between March 16 and March 27. We hope that the House Education Committee will hear House Bill 2797 in early April. HB 2797 would remove the standardized testing and reporting requirements to which homeschoolers are still subject but other privately educated children are not. HB 2797 is sponsored by Representative Barker and Senator Starr, at the request of Oregon Home Education Network (OHEN) and Oregon Christian Education Association Network (OCEANetwork).
