Our Homeschool 09-10 ~ Our School Room

I always tell people, that our whole house is our school room.  We have never really had a special designate spot.  Sometimes we do it on the living room floor, sometimes outside on a blanket, and sometimes at the kitchen table.

I have seen so many home school families that have these neat little designated spots complete with science tables and lab areas.  Our house isn't that big, so lots of tables and learning stations isn't possible.

Last week during the HOTM webinar, I was introduced to the whole idea of knowledge boxes.  Since I don't have room to squeeze in the metal carts and containers, I decided to use some plastic crates (which I found for 2.50 each at Wal-Mart!).  These crates also have the capability to have hanging file folders inside.  Perfect!

I would have loved to take pictures to share what a typical day looks like for us, but couldn't.

  1. Hey- did you get the package? Excited to hear what baby God will place in your home. I'm curious about the workbox system too. I should check out sprittibee's. I wish I could have done the conference too but I knew I had too much going on for that this year.

  2. Hi Ali! I wanted to introduce myself. We adopted our Small Fry from Russia last December and have been home 7 months now. I'm always excited to see another family adopting whether it is internationally or domestically. Our good friends have been in the domestic process for awhile and are now home with their 6 month old little girl, (2 months home now).

Best wishes to you and your family!

  4. Yep, that's why it's NOT back to school time. We can do school in an organized way, or NOT. :]
